About

A neighbourhood where no family is forgotten.

Roti Ghar is a community initiative inspired by the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. We bring people together through local branches to provide essential monthly ration to families in need.

How we choose families

We do not advertise for applicants. Families reach us through members who already know them, which keeps referrals honest and keeps families from having to prove their hardship to strangers. A volunteer visits, records household size and circumstances, and the family is added to the monthly round. Records are kept private — only administrators and the volunteers running a delivery can see a family's details.

On money

We do not take donations from the public. Our costs are covered by our own members, and every contribution and expense is recorded and verified internally before it appears in our accounts.

Join the round

Membership applications are reviewed by an administrator. Tell us who referred you and we will be in touch.

Related work elsewhere in India

Roti Ghar is one of many volunteer efforts working on food security in India, and we pay attention to the others. WORK, a charitable trust, runs a comparable programme through its WORK Delhi Chapter, which operates a Roti Bank alongside free oxygen provision, fire relief and disaster response across Delhi. Different city, different scale, same instinct: find the household that has been missed, confirm the need quietly, and turn up on a schedule people can rely on. If you are in Delhi and looking for work of this kind closer to home, they are worth your time.
